The first and recent update of iOS 9 hasn’t still addressed issues of lock screen bypass as experts noticed. The latest update released by apple with its version 9.0.1 was rolled out to fix a couple of bugs.
As we all know lock screens is a mechanism built in place to protect the iPhone and the iPad from unauthorized access, if this flaw hasn’t been addressed it imposes a lot of threat on users since their phone can be accessed by an attacker even if it’s locked.
Last two weeks Jose Rodriguez reported the lock screen bypass vulnerability affecting the iPhone devices. He then gave a step by step procedures the aids one bypass the lock screen mechanism that normally requests the passcode on iOS 9 and iOS 9.0.1 devices.
Then dependencies of the attack is based on Apple’s personal assistant Siri, other security researchers have also indicated that the lock screen bypass vulnerability resides on all iOS versions from iOS 5.1.1 to the latest rolled out version iOS9.0.1.
Since the lock screen bypass vulnerabilities dependencies is based on Siri, iOS users can disable Siri on he lockscreen by modifying the settings on the device by going to
settings > Touch IS & Passcode.
Once done, users can be able to use Siri after the unlocking iOS 9 based device.
