The Technology Executive conference 2016 (TEC2016) is an event aimed at recognizing technology thought leaders and inspiring a generation of leaders with innovative ideas and opportunities for social change in Ghana. It is the first of its kind in the country and has already stirred up an atmosphere of optimism among technology geeks in the country.
Organized by Lead One Africa, an NGO based in Washington, USA and headed by Augustine Blay, who is a renowned industry player in the world of technology. Lead One Africa has a one shared vision for Africa which is to “develop a platform for elite Africans living in the diaspora to contribute and positively influence policy changes that are being made for the future of Africa”.
Being an organization focusing on leadership, they are committed to taking the lead on developing a strategic framework that will guide and influence discussion for the future of Africa. They have undertaken several projects in this regard which are published on their website www.leadoneafrica.org.
In an interview with the Lead One Country Director of Ghana, Kingsley Ampadu, who also doubles as the event organizer for TEC2016, he disclosed that the theme for TEC2016 is “Innovating Ghana” and the targeted audience for the conference are business executives, entrepreneurs , technologists and students. The conference is scheduled for 23rd July 2016, at British Council from 9am prompt to 5pm. The highlight of the day is presentations from a line up of ten awesome speakers including key industry players like Prof. Frimpong Boateng who established the National Cardiothoracic Center and the Ghana Red Cross Society, Raindolf Owusu , CEO of Oasis Websoft and developers of the “Bisa” app and Augustine Blay himself. Other activities for the day are panel discussions and forum for participants.
Kingsley Ampadu also revealed that there is a pre – event for the conference which is a Hackathon contest for tertiary students and there are ongoing plans to organize follow up miniature conferences which will focus on one sector of the economy.
