Hackers have held the Pirates of the Caribbean latest movie from Disney studio for a ransom, and have pledged to leak it on torrent sites if money is not paid.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is the fifth and latest instalment in the popular medieval pirate fantasy and is expected to hit theaters later this month. The film stars Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow and will be seen fighting evil Capt. Salazar (Javier Bardem) to escape from the Devil’s Triangle. The film is scheduled to be released on 25th May in Italy and a world release thereafter.
Disney CEO Bob Igner has disclosed that Disney won’t be paying the Ransom and is working in hand with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to apprehend culprits. Disney has also not disclosed the ransom they are to pay to a bitcoin account and we still don’t know the movie hackers have an illegal copy of.
Similarly, last month, the fifth season of Orange is the New Black was uploaded by a group of hackers on torrent sites after Netflix refused to pay a ransom.
