The wait is finally over as the launch late of Apple’s latest flagship devices, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, has been announced. According to MacRumors, a tweet by Evan Blass, a well-known leaker, reveals that the latest iPhone will be released in “the week of September 12.”
Reports have already revealed that the latest iPhones have nothing that could interest analysts and Apple fans, but since the company has not come up with any details yet, we believe it’s premature to say anything about the devices at the moment.
In the past few years, Apple has held the iPhone launch events in fall only; therefore, the predicted week of September by Evan Blass seems to make sense. MacRumors also says that only a few days before this prediction, a blogger claimed that the likely names of the new models would be “Sonora” and “Dos Palos,” but did not disclose, which one would be iPhone 7 and which one iPhone 7 Plus.
That said, however, iPhone enthusiasts do not seem very interested in the devices primarily due to the build and design of iPhone7, which appears to be similar to its two-year-old predecessor, the iPhone 6. A ditched 3.5mm audio jack is another key reason behind the users’ disappointment.
Some reports have suggested that the company might pack a nifty lighting to audio adapter in the box, which will make it easier for users to connect their favorite audio peripherals. However, with the headphone jack axed, the problem to charge and listen to the audio simultaneously will remain. Also, there might be no additional features in the standard model, except for some under-the-hood improvement, such as processor and camera upgrades. The plus variant, on the other hand, might host a smart connector, like the one on iPad Pro, as well as a dual lens camera.
In spite of rumor mills’ disappointing speculations and predictions about the upcoming devices, we believe the tech giant will come up with features that will both excite and delight its users. For example, the display of the device is likely to be protected by the latest Gorilla Glass 5, making it sturdier and more durable than the previous models. Battery is said to bump up to 1960 mAh from the 1715mAh battery on iPhone 6s, while, the 16 GB base model will be replaced by 32GB, which will help resolve the storage issue that most iPhone owners face. Lastly, iOS 10, which is packed with a slew of new features, will definitely work better on the new model.
